"Kindred Spirits" is a film about a troubled young woman, Audrey Simmons- who,   having been abandoned by her parents at the age of 8, has been raised at an institution for the abused, neglected, and disabled.
Now 21, she is being released into the community to the  owner of a cafe, with whom she also resides.  Traumitized and lonely, she forms a "friendship" with a small doll, a new comic book character named, "Penny".  Whom she constantly talks to and imagines is real.
"Kindred Spirits" is their story.
